Open Sesame Garages, Day 30: Real Numbers From a Live AEO/GEO/SEO Program

12 clicks. 119 impressions. Two number-one rankings on the money keywords — and a branded search. Spotlight Links asks 60-days from our clients to begin delivering results. This is Day 30 report.

Thirty days into the Open Sesame Garages program: 12 clicks, 119 impressions, 10.1% click-through rate, average position 11.4. Small numbers. Published anyway, because the shape of this data says far more than the volume does — and because nobody in this industry shows you month one.

Context first, since it decides how to read everything below. Open Sesame Garages is a garage door company in Oklahoma City, less than a year old, run by Abdul, its owner and only technician. The website has been live and working for about one month. It is not on Google Maps yet. It has not been posted to a single social account. No paid ads. No backlink campaign.

So this isn't a report on a finished program. It's a report on seeds.

What's working

Position 1 on the two keywords that matter

garage door repair in oklahoma cityaverage position 1.00, one impression, one click, 100% CTR. garage door service okcaverage position 1.00.

Those are the commercial money queries for this business, and the site holds the top spot on both after roughly a month, with zero backlink work. That's the structural bet paying off: answer-shaped content with real prices and real service areas, clean technical foundations, proper schema, indexed properly from day one.

The impression counts are tiny because search volume for exact-match phrasings is tiny — but ranking #1 is the hard part. Volume follows surface area, and surface area is a content problem we know how to solve.

A 10.1% CTR at average position 11.4

This is the number I'd point at if I could only show one. Typical organic CTR at position 11 runs somewhere around 1–2%. Open Sesame is pulling 10.1% — roughly six times that.

Translation: when this site appears in a result list, people choose it over things ranked above it. That's titles, meta descriptions, and answer-shaped snippets doing exactly their job. You cannot buy that; you write it.

81% engagement rate

Of everyone who lands, ~81% engage rather than bounce. The /blog and /faq sections both show 100% engagement. People arriving from search are finding what they came for and reading further. The content isn't decorative.

The geography is precise

Of 25 attributable users: Oklahoma City 11, Dallas 6, Fort Worth 1 — roughly 72% in or adjacent to the target market, plus New York (that's us) and a handful of international noise. For a local service business, traffic composition matters more than traffic volume. Wrong-city visitors are a cost, not a win.

Brand awareness is starting

open sesame garage door pulled 9 impressions — the single most-searched query in the set. A month ago that number was zero. People are beginning to search for this business by name.

Which brings us to the problem.

What's not working

The branded query got 9 impressions and 0 clicks

This is the loudest signal in the entire dataset, and it is not subtle: people search the business name, see the results page, and don't click.

The cause is almost certainly what we haven't done yet. There is no Google Business Profile. There are several other companies called "Open Sesame" in garage doors across the country — Jacksonville, Las Vegas, and others. So a customer searching the brand gets a results page with no map pack, no photos, no reviews, no hours, no "call" button, and several same-named competitors. Nothing anchors the right business.

This is the highest-value unfixed thing on the list, and it's not a content problem. It's an entity problem — the GEO layer: consistent name, address, phone, verifiable existence, real reviews, a map presence. That work is next, and it's the reason the honest answer to "when do we see results?" is 45–60 days, not 30.

Service-area pages rank at positions 54–70

door repair yukon ok (54), door repair mustang ok (62), door installation yukon ok (68), garage door repair yukon (70). The pages exist and are indexed — they're just not competitive. Location pages without local entity signals behind them are, essentially, claims without evidence. They'll move once the Business Profile and citations exist, and once each page carries genuinely local specifics rather than a swapped city name.

/contact: 8 impressions, 0 clicks

People see the contact page in results and don't click it. Either the title and description aren't giving a reason to, or — more likely — someone searching "contact information" wants the phone number in the result, not a page to visit. That's a structured-data and snippet fix.

The homepage is carrying everything

All 12 clicks went to the homepage, which also took ~70% of impressions. Meanwhile the FAQ pages are ranking respectably — /faq/garage-door-spring-replacement-cost-okc at position 8.6, /faq/diy-garage-door-spring-repair-safety at 5.0 — but converting no clicks yet.

A healthy local site spreads entry points across many pages, so it can be found for many different questions. Right now there's one front door. The deep pages are ranked but under-impressed, which is a volume problem, not a quality problem.

119 impressions is a small surface

The site ranks well for the few things it appears for. It just doesn't appear for enough things yet. More questions answered properly = more surfaces = more impressions. This is the most mechanical, most solvable item on the list.

The honest timeline

Here's the part most agencies won't put in writing.

Days 0–30 is not a results phase. It's the planting phase. Content gets built, structured, and published; the technical foundation goes in; pages get indexed. You're putting seeds and crumbs on the ground to find out which birds show up — and some of what shows up will be worms, and some will be feathered things from other planets entirely. You don't get to know in advance.

Days 45–60 is when the first real layer of signal arrives. Entity work starts compounding, non-branded volume climbs, and the pages that were merely indexed start ranking.

Three to six months is when authority compounds and the numbers stop being small.

We are at day 30. Everything above is a leading indicator, and the leading indicators are unusually good: #1 rankings on the core commercial queries, CTR at six times the positional norm, 81% engagement, right cities. The lagging indicators — volume, branded clicks, service-area rankings — are exactly what the next 30 days are for.

Anyone who shows you a triumphant month-one report is either showing you a business that already had authority, or showing you a chart with no y-axis.

What we do next for Abdul

In priority order, because the data ordered it for us:

  1. Google Business Profile, verified. Fixes the branded-search hole, unlocks the local map pack, and puts a phone number and hours directly in results. Highest leverage by a wide margin.
  2. Citations and consistency. Same name, address, phone everywhere — the entity signals that also make AI engines confident enough to cite a business.
  3. Real reviews, surfaced. Abdul has genuinely happy customers. Right now they're not visible where it counts.
  4. Deepen service-area pages. Local specifics per city, not a template with the name swapped.
  5. Expand the answer surface. More questions, answered with real numbers — the material that's already ranking at positions 5–8.6 when we publish it.
  6. Social presence. Not for the followers — for the entity signals and the branded SERP.

What this means if you're considering this work

Three things, stated plainly:

The structural work shows up fast. Two #1 rankings and a 6× CTR in month one, from content and technical foundations alone. If your site is well-built and honestly written, search will find it faster than the industry's usual promises suggest.

The entity work can't be skipped, and it's slower. No amount of good content compensates for a business that search engines can't confirm exists. If you take one free thing from this article: go claim your Google Business Profile today. It's the highest-return hour available to most local businesses, and it costs nothing.

Month one is diagnosis, not victory. What you buy in the first 30 days is a site that deserves to rank and the data telling you exactly where the gaps are. This report is the deliverable — we know precisely what to do next because we measured, and we're showing our client the same numbers we're showing you.

That's the beginning. Not the end, not a promise — a real starting position, measured honestly, with the next moves already obvious.

We'll publish the day-60 report too. Including if it's disappointing.

Data notes

All figures are first-party, from Google Search Console and GA4 for Jul 6 – Aug 2, 2026 (GSC performance window: 28 days ending Aug 2). Search Console and GA4 report slightly different totals because they attribute and process differently; GSC is treated as the source of truth for queries, clicks, impressions, and position. User counts are small enough that percentages should be read as direction, not precision.
